DOUG & MIKKI KIRKS' REAL ESTATE NEWS SPRING 2003
Welcome to Spring!
Although we are still Re/max-Doug & Mikki Kirk Realty, we decided we needed a name that was more  inclusive
of all the members of our dynamic real estate team. Doug, Mikki and Paul (our son) continue to be on the front lines as licensed realtors--listing and selling houses and properties day after
day! The two Christines are unlicensed assistants and keep on top of the paperwork and boss us around when we ARE in the office. Christine Musgrave (left) is our sales assistant, while Christine
Gilbert (on the far right) is our listing assistant. At times, it’s quite convenient that they have the same name-Doug yells once and they both come running! In any case we are delighted with
the caricature-Mikki loves her waistline and Doug is thrilled to be almost as tall as Paul!
What's Happening in Real Estate?
- According to the CMHC Housing Market Outlook, sales are expected to drop slightly this year in response to rising prices, higher mortgage rates and the reduced selection of listings.
The demand outlook for both new and resale housing does, however, remain positive and Kelowna continues to be one of the fastest growing centres in BC.
- Lots continue to be in short supply; hence prices for new homes are on the rise.
- Apartment/condo sales are expected to increase for the 3rd straight year, boosted by the strong retiree and resort/lifestyle market.
- The rental market will likely edge down to 1.5% in 2003 and rents will continue to rise in response. The declining vacancy rates will trigger more rental construction.
- Over all, we are in good shape!

of the prestigious Re/max Lifetime Achievement award. We continue to be the top selling team in Kelowna and are near the top provincially and nationally as well. This amazing achievement would
not have been possible without you!
